SevenGen Growth Fund completes first close to accelerate Europe’s climate transition

21 October 2025

SevenGen Investment Partners has held the first close of the SevenGen Growth Fund at more than EUR 50 million, with total investor commitments expected to increase further as the fund has already reached EUR 65 million in signed commitments towards its EUR 150 million target.

The fund provides growth capital to North-West European scale-ups that accelerate the shift to a climate-neutral and more independent economy. SevenGen focuses on companies active in energy transition, decarbonizing industries, circular materials and sustainable mobility, sectors critical to Europe’s climate and biodiversity goals and industrial resilience.

Anchored by institutional investors, the European Investment Fund and Invest International, the fund is supported by impact investors including Victrix, Alphatron and Phase2.earth, as well as entrepreneurs and C-suite leaders with deep industry experience from companies such as EDMij.

The SevenGen team has worked together for nearly a decade, investing across Europe. Their approach combines private equity discipline with clear, quantifiable impact metrics. As an SFDR Article 9 fund, the fund aims to deliver top-quartile financial returns and top-quartile impact.

Frederik Deutman, Co-founder of SevenGen Investment Partners: “Europe has world-class innovation in climate tech, but often loses out at the growth stage. Companies that could become global leaders get acquired or outpaced by better-funded US and Asian rivals. SevenGen scales the companies that can turn Europe's innovation strength into industrial leadership.

Pieter Smit, Co-founder of SevenGen Investment Partners, added: “This first close confirms the strong demand for funds that combine growth capital with measurable impact. We back companies that drive costs down and make climate solutions accessible to everyone, not just early adopters. That's how you move from niche to mainstream.

The fund expects to invest in around ten North-West European growth companies, with initial tickets between EUR 5 million and EUR 15 million. The team will continue fundraising towards a final close in 2026.
